Hi guys - been back in the UK a week and really only just starting to catch up. What a great country you have there! We arrived in the Grand Duchy on Sunday 7 September having driven across from the Eurotunnel/Shuttle which in itself was a great drive - we'd hoped to stop in Dinant for lunch but there were just so many people there - we did two circuits and still couldn't find anywhere to park so had to move on. Spent Monday and Tuesday, two great sunny days, in the city itself doing the usual tourist things - shops, train ride around the old town, general sightseeing, before making our way on to Tanias sisters in Switzerland on Wednesday. Switzerlands swarming with Scoobies although very few turbos - they obviously just drive them for their 4 wheel drive capability - very few modified cars so we drew a few stares wherever we went with the exhaust noise and McRae Gathering sticker on the bonnet :D They have some great roads to drive and tunnels everywhere :) Spent the next couple of weeks there before arriving back in the city on Monday 29th for another two days. Weather was cold and wet so spent time in the cathedral, Bock Casemates. Overall very impressed with the Grand Duchy. We didn't find it expensive for the days we were there yet we did notice there were a lot of serious cars - Bentley, Maserati, Porsche, Audi - and the housing in the city looked very expensive. How do you guys cope or are you all wealthy? And, no one seemed to drive an old car - do you have a law that stops people driving them
Didn't see one Scooby in the City :(
Would love to come back, perhaps to your 2009 tour although I don't know that Tanias keen on being a passenger again for such a long journey. Will try to change her mind and see if some others from Kent Scoobies might come along. Will keep an eye for the Tour details on the forum - what happens on your Tour? perhaps someone could email me (belcherbarry@hotmail.com) when the plans are finalised?
Thanks to the City of Luxembourg for making our stop-overs so pleasant
