Have had a few friends from the Kent Club said they'd be interested in coming out for your Tour next year :) If you could let me have a few details of what the weekend entails we could all give this some serious thought as to costings and so on. We'd probably make a long weekend of it, travelling out Friday and going home Monday.
Will await hearing from you

Glad to hear ! ;-)

Well the date is confirmed, it will be may 23rd and 24th, being a Saturday and Sunday.

It will be quite similar to the events the years before, meaning we will drive in convoy at reasonable speed (so it's not a trackday). The distance generally lies somewhere between 350 and 400km for both days.

We have a lunch possibility on both days, it's not compulsory, and costs 20€ per day and per person, covering for lunch without drinks.

Participation as such is absolutely free.

If you need help finding a place to stay, let us know, we can provide you with details.

Hope this gives you more insight, if there is anything else you'd like to know, don't hesitate to post your questions here ;-)

Jean-Pierre, thanks for the information. Where do you start and finish from and is it the same route each day? If it is, then perhaps we'd just join you on one day and spend a day by ourselves? Having just returned from a short stay in the City personally I'd rather like to stay there again although if the tour starts further out we'd obviously be better staying elsewhere. It would be good to see other parts of the country but I suspect that on a 200km route, we'll get to see a lot any way! Perhaps you could make a few suggestions for nice hotels - at this stage we have 4 couples interested. When we were in the City we were at the Parc Plaza on Rue Marie-Therese.
Thanks
Barry

Start and arrival are in Ettelbrück, here is most likely the exact regroup point (GPS coordinates : 49.84187° North / 6.09426° East), if it has to be changed, it will be very close to it. It's up north from where you were. I'm living in the south, and to be honest, the north is the part of the country I prefer, and luckily, it's also where we'll be driving the most, lots of nice bends, smooth tarmac etc. ;-)

The routes are different each day, but you can join in as you like, one of both days or both. Generally saturday will be the more complete day, as we try not to get finished too late on sunday, so everybody can get on their journey home in time.

I'll let you know for Hotel details.

I have now posted a thread on Kent Scoobies club site to gauge interest in attending the Tour. I have told everyone that you need to have definite numbers, rather than the usual 'maybes, perhaps etc' so hopefully I'll be able to get back to you in the next two weeks.

Jean-Pierre, how soon do you need to know how many cars might be attending from Kent Scoobies?

You can take you time, it'd be perfect if I could have the details somewhere in the beginning of 2009.

Thats good - will try to get everyone here organised by Christmas
Since I probably won't be visiting the site so regularly now, perhaps you could email me when your plans are finalised or if there's anything we need to know

Thank you

Barry

There's been some interest from the Kent club - perhaps 5/6 cars - and wonder if you have any more updates yet?

That's very nice to hear.

There have been no updates in the meantime... There will most likely not be that many except for the lunch. The roadbooks are only available on site before we start ;-)

Is there something specific you need to know ?

So, finally we will have some people from the island participating on our road-tour

I posted a thread on Scooby-Net for the last 2 years , but interest was very, very low. I hope it works out this way and you will join us on our main-event

I am still definately going to be there!
Am setting off one week before your event just to take in some sights around France.
I should arrive in Luxembourg on Friday 22nd.
We'll be camping!! So if any of you guys can suggest any campsites for us to stay in it would be much appreciated.
I did send all my details on email last year, so hope you haven't forgotten me

Cheers,

Dan.
